Swatch and Omega have returned with another seasonal MoonSwatch release, this time celebrating December’s full moon with a frosty new variation: the Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold “Cold Moon. The Cold Moon marks the final full moon of the year, traditionally associated with crisp nights and icy skies. Swatch has leaned heavily into this theme, presenting a snowy white colour palette and one of the most distinctive aesthetic details in the entire Bioceramic collection.
What’s New With the “Cold Moon”
The design centres on a fully white Bioceramic case, matching white crown and pushers, and a white Velcro strap reminiscent of the original MoonSwatch straps. The dial also arrives in an opaline white tone, keeping the look cohesive and clearly winter-inspired.

The MoonSwatch Earthphase line has featured Moonshine Gold detailing before, but the Cold Moon takes this concept further: one of the two golden moons includes a laser-engraved snowflake motif, and every snowflake is unique to each individual watch. This effectively means no two Cold Moon models are exactly the same, creating a rare sense of individuality in what is normally a mass-produced product line.
Alongside the moon-phase, the watch retains the earth-phase complication, showing Earth as viewed from the Moon, plus the familiar Snoopy-themed details introduced throughout the Earthphase series. The quartz chronograph movement remains unchanged, keeping functionality simple and accessible.
Technical Details
Like previous MoonSwatches, the Cold Moon uses Swatch’s proprietary Bioceramic material, known for being lightweight, matte, and slightly warm to the touch. The case keeps the same proportions as earlier models: 42.00 mm in diameter, 13.75 mm thick, with a 47.30 mm lug-to-lug.

Inside is a battery-powered quartz chronograph movement driving both the chronograph and the phase indicators. The layout remains consistent with the Speedmaster-inspired format that Swatch has followed since the original launch in 2022.
A Challenging Release Strategy
Swatch has once again opted for a limited-conditions release strategy. The Cold Moon goes on sale starting December 4, 2025, the date of the Cold Moon itself. However, after launch day, the watch will only be available for purchase on days when it is snowing in Switzerland. Stores carrying the Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection will release stock only when these conditions are met, making availability unpredictable.
This approach follows the earlier Earthphase Moonshine Gold releases, which were tied to specific lunar cycles or seasonal conditions. While it adds an element of fun and exclusivity, it also significantly restricts global access — especially for collectors outside central Europe.
The official retail price is $450, placing it slightly above standard MoonSwatch models due to the added complications and Moonshine Gold elements. The watch will be sold exclusively through select Swatch stores, with no online sales planned.
Final Thoughts
The Cold Moon brings a much cleaner and more distinctive look to the Earthphase line. The all-white colour scheme immediately sets it apart, especially after several recent releases that felt visually similar. The unique snowflake engraving on the Moonshine Gold moonphase adds individuality. Overall, it’s one of the more memorable and different MoonSwatches in the recent lineup.
