It’s been over a year since Swatch released its first Snoopy-themed MoonSwatch models. But now, the most beloved Beagle in the galaxy is back. Swatch and Omega have unveiled a charming new entry in the collaborative MoonSwatch lineup: the Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold (Ref. SO33N701L).
Unlike past Moonshine editions that simply added gold-plated chronograph hands to existing models, this release brings something fans have been hoping for: Snoopy and Woodstock, seated on the Moon and gazing up at a shimmering Earth, in one of the most detailed and imaginative dials Swatch has put out to date. It’s a fresh Peanuts spin on the previously released Mission to Earthphase, bringing together storytelling, playfulness, and visual artistry without altering the core complications.
What’s New?
This isn’t a brand-new complication. The Mission to Earthphase, first released in late 2024, introduced the world to a quartz-driven Earthphase and Moonphase combo. It was the first MoonSwatch to display the Earth’s phase as seen from the Moon—an imaginative twist on traditional moonphase watches. But with this Moonshine Gold Snoopy Edition, Swatch takes that same technical foundation and injects it with personality.

The result is a cosmic scene in motion: a rotating Moonphase disc at 2 o’clock and an Earthphase disc at 10 o’clock. Both move continuously with the passing days and are functional (though not precision complications like those in high-end mechanical watches). The Sturgeon Moon acts as the impetus for the new release, with one of the golden rounds draped in a fishing net to commemorate the time typically associated with the most abundance of sturgeon to fish. The other moon is more comic-appropriate, with a paw print hidden amongst the golden craters.
Case, Dial, and Design Breakdown
The case remains true to form for the MoonSwatch line—crafted from Swatch’s signature Bioceramic. It’s lightweight, matte-finished, and measures 42mm across, just like the Omega Speedmaster that inspired it. This time, the case comes in a deep navy blue, a deliberate nod to the oceans of Earth.

The dial is where the storytelling really shines. The Earth and Moon discs are coated in Omega’s proprietary Moonshine Gold, a paler yellow gold alloy that resists fading and adds a subtle luster. Depending on the version you get, the gold discs may feature decorative details including a paw print, a sturgeon fishing net (a nod to Omega’s gold sourcing in European rivers), or a UV-reactive cartoon Earth. Hidden beneath the surface is a delightful surprise: under UV light, the quote “I beat everybody…” appears—straight from the original Peanuts comic strip that helped launch Snoopy into space lore.
Altogether, it’s the most playful and detailed MoonSwatch dial yet—blending visual art, subtle storytelling, and Swatch’s signature sense of humor.
Movement and Functionality
As with other MoonSwatches, the watch runs on a Swatch quartz movement, meaning it’s battery-powered and relatively low-maintenance. The Earthphase and Moonphase complications are functional, not decorative—but they’re simplified for quartz (expect them to be close enough for fun, but not astronomically accurate).

It’s worth noting that while this model keeps the three-register layout, the chronograph functionality is basic—you only get a central chronograph seconds hand, with no minute or hour counters. That’s standard across the MoonSwatch line, and something to keep in mind if you’re looking for more stopwatch utility.
Strap and Wearability
This release also marks the first time a MoonSwatch comes pre-installed with Omega’s official rubber strap. Introduced last year as an online-only accessory, these straps were designed to upgrade the feel of earlier MoonSwatches that came with stiff nylon fabric.

The new strap retains a Velcro closure, in homage to NASA’s tool watches, but swaps the material for a much softer, flexible rubber. It’s easier to wear all day, less prone to fraying, and simply feels more premium. This seemingly small change makes a big difference in day-to-day comfort—especially in hot weather or active use.
Availability and Pricing
In true Moonshine Gold fashion, this release is being kept exclusive and limited. The Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold is available only in select Swatch boutiques for one day only: Saturday, August 9, 2025.
As with previous limited drops, buyers are restricted to one watch per person, and there is no online availability. The official retail price is $400 USD, making it the most expensive MoonSwatch yet, arguably justified by the upgraded strap and decorated dial.
Final Thoughts
The Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold isn’t trying to reinvent the MoonSwatch—rather, it’s celebrating what the collection does best. It’s quirky, imaginative, and undeniably fun. By combining the Earthphase complication with an emotional, character-driven dial, Swatch has delivered a watch that tells a story every time you check the time.
From the gold-coated celestial discs to the thoughtful Peanuts references, this model proves that even playful watches can feel meaningful. For fans of Snoopy, Omega, or just offbeat limited editions, this one is well worth chasing—if you can get to a boutique in time.
